Submitted by Luke on Thu, 04/13/2017 - 22:24

On the 12th of April, the DC Bike Party again took to the streets of DC. Before the ride even got out of Dupont Circle, motorists began honking-and one yuppie in a BMW attempted without success to ram through the cyclists. He was stopped and the ride continued without further interference.

Richard Spencer's Nazi "anti war" protest chased from Lafayette Park

Submitted by Luke on Sun, 04/09/2017 - 14:12

Update:Report of "25 loud drunks" at Spencer's home night after this event chanting "Heil Bannon"

On the 8th of April, Richard Spencer and his neo-Nazi friends tried to exploit the Syrian crisis by holding a so-called "antiwar protest" at the White House. They were confronted by a larger crew of anti-Fascist protesters. As darkness fell, someone threw glitter on Richard Spencer as he began trying to escape with his crew. Then all hell broke loose-and Spencer had to run for it. Part of the anti-Fascist crew had to retreat because of the glitter incident, but other chased Richard Spencer to his taxi, from which he was ejected.

On Monday, April 3, 2017, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) raided a known activist’s house in the Petworth neighborhood. MPD broke down the door with guns drawn even though people were home at the time. According to the search warrant, the raid was in furtherance of “the investigation into the conspiracy to riot” and to search for items associated with the “Black Bloc march on January 20, 2017,” the day of protests against Trump’s inauguration.

DC ReInvest calls on DC, residents to divest from pipeline/prison funding Wells Fargo

Submitted by Luke on Wed, 04/05/2017 - 23:10

On the 5th of April, DCReInvest showed up in front of the Wells Fargo at 801 Penn Ave. Speakers urged all in earshot to close personal accounts with the notorious funder of the DAPL pipeline and private prisons. In addition, several speakers noted that the DC government is now legally REQUIRED to move their $2 billion in accounts out of Wells Fargo. This is due to the bank earning a "failing grade" with their ongoing housing discrimination and redlining.

Resistance fighters attack Trump National Golf Course in VA in solidarity with J20 arrestees

Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 04/04/2017 - 23:29

On April 1, the Trump National Golf Course in Sterling, Virgina was found with anarchist symbols dug into it and the word "resist" emblazoned in bleach on a fairway. The damage was found one day before Trump was due to appear there in person for a round of golf with Sen Rand Paul. A communique appeared on itsgoingdown.org claiming this action as a solidarity action for the over 200 people arrested during the DisruptJ20 protests against Donald Trump's inauguration. This act of militant direct action is a shot across the bow those who think cops and jails can stop the resistance to fascism and to Donald Trump.

Anti-Trans bigots at GW draws larger counterprotest, Hate Bus stays other side of town

Submitted by Luke on Mon, 04/03/2017 - 17:11

Update 4-4-2017:NOM published photo of hate bus at US Capitol, this was apparently as close to GW as they dared to approach. Not sure when photo taken either.

On the 3rd of April, NOM's so-called "Free Speech Bus" also known as the "hate bus" for anti-Trangender images on its sides was due to appear in DC. A few anti-Transgender bigots showed up at George Washington University and attracted a student counterprotest leavened with counterinaugural veterans. They left after about an hour, with nobody having found the "Hate Bus," and were from an apparently unrelated group. There was no mention on NOM's twitter feed of even arriving in DC.

On the 28th of March, Trump signed an executive order killing outright the EPA's "Clean Power Plan" to limit CO2 emissions from electrical utilities. The same order ends a moratorium on new Federal lands coal leases, and weakens restrictions on fracking on Federal lands. The Sierra Club, Mom's Clean Air Force, and People's Climate Movement protested in front of the White House against what amounts to a War on the Climate by Trump.

On the 26th of march, the progressive Jewish organization IfNotNow charged the doors of the Washington Convention Center and locked down to blockade both entrances to AIPAC's annual convention. Submitted by Luke on Fri, 03/24/2017 - 18:56

On the 24th of March, the DC Council held a public hearing on whether or not to confirm acting police chief Newsham. A "Mock Bloc" blocked 14th st outside after chalking warnings about Newsham's domestic abuse history and related gender issues in front of the Wilson Building. Dulles Airport gets protest of Trumps' Muslim Ban 2.0

Submitted by Luke on Sat, 03/18/2017 - 16:34

On the 18th of March, protesters gathered at Dulles International Airport against Donald Trump's revised Muslim travel ban, the one that was supposed to go into effect two days earlier. Federal courts have again blocked Trump's racist Muslim ban in cases filed by Maryland and Hawaii. Trump has appealed, but his big mouth is getting him into trouble with judges frowning on such statements as that he really wanted the first version with its explicit religious test.
