3rd Trumpcare bill stopped after disruptive protests in Hart Building, Sen vote on possible ACA repeal bill 7-25

Submitted by Luke on Mon, 07/17/2017 - 22:58

Update 7-24: Die-in at US Capitol as GOP plans 4th attempt. Sen McCain to return to Congress Tues 7-25 for vote(presumed YES), only one GOP public no at this point. Koch Bros piggy bank reported closed until GOP gets both Trumpcare and Trump tax bill passed.

On the 17th of July, the world got more proof that protest works and direct action gets the goods. Hours after a highly disruptive civil disobedience protest against Trumpcare inside the Hart building, two more GOP Senators declared they would vote no. With 4 no votes from the GOP and 100% nos from the Dems, this bill is again dead. No doubt Trump will try yet again, but Trumpcare has just struck out with three defeats in a row.

No Justice No Pride marches for Transgender Liberation

Submitted by Luke on Fri, 07/14/2017 - 01:04

On the 13th of July, No Justice No Pride returned to the streets of DC. With attacks on transgender women soaring and two violent assaults recently, the cops seem more interested in singling out people of color for unpaid bus fare. In addition they are still hassling transgender sex workers as though Stonewall never happened. In the face of these outrages, No Justice No Pride is saying enough is enough.

Protesters gather at White House as multiple official sources call Russiagate treason

Submitted by Luke on Tue, 07/11/2017 - 23:49

On the 11th of July, protesters showed outside the White House as the swirling "Russiagate" scandal took a new turn. Donald Trump Jr released emails showing he told Russian spy agencies he "welcomed" their interference in the 2016 election on behalf of his father. He released them only because newspapers were about to. Both former Watergate prosecutor Nick Akerman and Sen Tim Kaine called Trump Jr's meeting with Russian officials "treason."

Video-anarchists burn US flags on July 4

Submitted by Luke on Wed, 07/05/2017 - 00:43

Furious with efforts to imprison comrades for up to 80 years each for the DisruptJ20 protests, anarchists burned US flags on the 4th of July. The USA flag now stands for Trump, for the alt-right, and for prosecutors like Jennifer Kirkhoff and cops like chief Newsham. It has always stood for racism, and the US is notorious around the world for long prison sentences that violate international standards.

Submitted by Luke on Fri, 06/30/2017 - 21:03

Unicorn Riot has cited a DC Office of Police Complaints report confirming that police attacked protesters against Donald Trump's inauguration with no warning and considerable force. Assistant US Attorney (AUSA) Jennifer Kerkhoff is Deputy Chief of the Felony Major Crimes section of the US Attorney's office in DC, is prosecuting the J20 cases-and now she is attempting to hide the evidence and the body camera video.

Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 06/29/2017 - 23:31

On the 29th of June, Metro bus and rail riders gathered outside the Columbia Heights Metro station to demand an end to fare hikes and service cuts, and that big developers and businesses that depend on Metrorail to make their billions pay their fare share of the cost of keeping the system running. Submitted by Luke on Thu, 06/29/2017 - 01:01

On the 28th of June, Donald Trump held a fundraiser for himself at Trump Hotel, drawing protesters on very short notice. Protesters invoked everything from Russiagate to Trump's war on women and the environmental record of his EPA chief Pruitt. Warning: Thieves have rigged Union Station Bike racks for easy removal

Submitted by Luke on Tue, 06/27/2017 - 15:11

The bicycle racks at Union Station in Washinton DC have become unsafe to lock a bicycle to, as bike thieves have removed many of the nuts holding the U-shaped racks to the concrete. In addition, many of them now have ordinary hex nuts, not the original security nuts holding them down. Anyone with a wrench can remove the hex nuts, and obviously someone is able to remove the security nuts as well. The steel bases on each end of the U sections are small enough to pass through a U-lock.

Video: gone in 60 seconds-your bike at Union Station

Miscellaneous

Here's the problem: missing or easily removed nuts permit bike thieves to remove the entire rack from your lock. If you didn't lock through a wheel and the frame, you just lost your bike

WERK for peace marches on Sen McConnell's home against "Trumpcare" health bill

Submitted by Luke on Tue, 06/27/2017 - 01:16

Update June 27: GOP puts off vote until after July 4 recess after 6 GOP Senators say they will vote no, which would scuttle the bill.

On the 26th of June, the mostly GLBTQ group WERK for peace staged a dance party style march on the home of Sen majority leader Mitch McConnell. Upon arrival they threw heaps of biodegradeable confetti into the air while shutting down the entire block. WERK for Peace is demanding that Sen McConnell block Trump's healthcare bill, which would gut Medicaid and boot an estimated 22 million people off of health insurance.

Those who could prove a connection to a US citizen or organizations were exempted. Several hours later, protesters assembled outside the Supreme Court, and attorneys were reported to be on their way to airports again.

Antifa protest MPD free speech violations as alt-right stages dueling "free speech" rallies

Submitted by Luke on Sun, 06/25/2017 - 19:44

On the 25th of June, the so-called "Proud boys," Richard Spencer, and Identity Evropa held a "free speech" protest on the Mall peddling a narrative that anti-fascists (antifa) oppose free speech. Rejecting the bait, anti-fascists descended instead on MPD's headquarters to condemn police violations of free speech rights such as the efforts to imprison Inauguration protesters for up to 80 years. A second counterprotest held the high ground over the fascists on the Lincoln Memorial steps, and a second fascist rally took place at the White House
